2 June 1953 – “John Berkley Plunkett, 72, of Sebring, Fla., died this morning at 9:35 o’clock in the Petersburg General Hospital after a brief illness.
“Mr. Plunkett was a native of Appomattox County, but had been living in Sebring for about 12 years, and was visiting his niece, Mrs. Henry W. Brinkley, when taken ill.
“Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maude Hawkins Plunkett, of Sebring; two sisters: Mrs. T. J. Deane, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and Mrs. A. T. Rucker, of Bristol, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
“Funeral arrangements are incomplete but interment will be made in Huntington, W. Va.”
